Summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Technical Manager to join a well-established, progressive food manufacturer based in South Wales. The organisation has a growing product base which is supplied to various retailers throughout the UK. The role is a days’ based position working Monday-Friday 09:00 – 17:00 however flexibility is required.

 

The Role
The company has a well-established Quality Management System so they are seeking an individual who will have the ability to maintain this, whilst constantly striving for ways of improving standards and keeping up to date with a rapidly developing industry.
Duties will include:

  • Undertaking GAP analysis and interpretation of BRC standard, customer requirements and legislation and incorporate requirements into current Quality Management System
  • Leading customer, TSO, EHO and BRC audits and follow-up of resulting non-conformances
  • Maintenance of QMS
  • Maintenance of HACCP and annual HACCP review
  • Calibration programme
  • Training of workforce against QMS
  • Developing initiatives for the continuous improvement of factory and product standards
  • Dealing with customer complaints
  • Responsibility for hygiene team
  • Finished product specifications
  • Supplier assurance programme
  • Writing legal product labels
  • Risk assessments
  • Internal auditing
  • Traceability studies
  • Management of / supporting QA staff with routine daily issues
  • Management of team – performance reviews, coaching / supporting, recruitment, etc
  • Management of department KPIs

 

The Candidate
Personality is key with this role. They are seeking an individual who is organised and methodical, someone who can remain calm and collected, but also have the ability to deal with tricky situations. A reassuring customer facing candidate would be perfect.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Must have lead / jointly lead a BRC audit and therefore have excellent knowledge of the requirements of the BRC standard
  • Must have had previous experience as a QA or Technical Manager in food manufacturing and therefore managed a team of technical staff / QAs
  • Must have written a Quality Management System and been HACCP Team Leader / Joint Lead
  • Must have good working knowledge of food legislation
  • Must have good experience in dealing directly with customers during visits to customers premises, audits of site and pressurised situations such as complaints, product recalls, etc.
  • Would be good to have minimum of level 3 training in HACCP and / or food safety and formal internal auditing.
